The RSS Blog

News and commentary from the RSS and OPML community.

Chip tagged me with a new meme called What's Your Web 2.0? Basically, you enumerate all the websites that you use; daily, weekly and monthly. I'm a heavy Web 2.0 user, so I'm gonna go with hourly, daily and weekly instead.

Hourly use

  • Gmail - Everything begins with my inbox. I check it every few minutes, several times per hour and about 100 times per day. Even my RSS comes thru my email via Rmail. I check a lot of blog, but via Rmail, so I don't really visit the actual blogs very often.
  • Google Search - Once I've checked my email and earnings, I go do something and that almost always starts with Google Search; web, news and blog. I even use Google search to get to check my AdSense stats. I type adsense in the Firefox searchbar and click the first result. This has eliminated the need for me to use the bookmarks toolbar.
  • Google Adsense - I check my earnings every hour. I don't have to. I'm just crazy that way.

Daily use

  • KBCafe, ResumeBay, RMail, Talk-Sports and The RSS Blog - I manage several websites on a daily basis. I visit these sites only to monitor comments, post new blogs entries and test functionality.
  • FeedBurner - I check my FeedBurner stats every morning; both earnings and subscriber counts.
  • del.icio.us - I use del.icio.us to bookmark sites that are later posted to my blogs using Rmail. I use to use del.icio.us a lot more, but it's been quite unreliable of late, so my usage has tailed off.
  • Google Analytics - I use Analytics to check my stats.
  • nhl.com - I'm a hockey freak. It's not very Web 2.0, but I spend a lot of time there.
  • YouTube - This is the only site I really need. It's my entertainment.

Weekly use

  • Amazon - I check my Amazon Associate earnings from time-to-time and buy stuff there all the time.
  • Technorati - I use to use Technorati hourly, but it's mostly broken now, so I rarely use it anymore.
  • Google AdWords - I'm always running AdWords campaigns and I check them a few times a week to make sure they are performing.
  • Flickr - I still use Flickr, but not as much as I use to. I use to upload all my pics, but the Flickr uploadr has been broken for about a year now, so I only use it now to find images that aren't mine and upload the occasion pic.
  • Alexa - I like to also check my Alexa stats from time-to-time.
  • MySpace - I try to keep my MySpace profile, just to stay current with what's hot. Honestly, I think it's kinda gay, so I have to force myself to do it.

I hope I didn't forget anything. I'm going to tag Joseph A Nagy Jr, Oleg Dulin, Scott Kingery, David Rothman, Tom Simpson, Aimee Evans, Jason Schramm, David Walker, Alec Saunders, Tim Dungan and Steve Michel. Tell us what your Web 2.0 is.
