Last week, Cognitive Daily moved to full feeds. This week, they moved back to partial feeds. They presented some data to validate their decision. It's worth a read if you follow the full vs partial feed debate.
Some of my own thoughts follow...
- The blogger is worried that he saw an immediate drop in pageviews. But, if you look at his stats, it appears that the drop-off in pageviews was part of an existing trend. Pageviews dropped 30% the week prior to his move.
- Moving to full feeds will result in a drop in pageviews. It's only logical that some readers will read entire articles in the feed and not click thru to the website. If you rely on pageviews for revenue, then consider a feed advertising option.
